Digital portfolio tips
Keep it simple
Don’t use flash for the sake of it and don’t make the pages look cluttered.
Navigation
Make sure the navigation is easy to work out and ensure that the user NEVER has to click on the ‘Back’ button.
Typography
Ensure the site has good typography throughout.
Symmetry
Ensure that there is symmetry or at the very least, good alignment throughout the site.
Downloading time
Optimise images and content so that the site downloads quickly.
Tailor your portfolio
Always tailor your portfolio to the job you are being interviewed for. If you’re portfolio doesn’t display the skills that the job requires then you may risk losing the position.
Text
Try not to make pages too text heavy as a screen of text is much hard to read than a printed page of text. Use images or plenty of spacing to break the text up.
Colours
Use colours that work and that are good on the eyes. Don’t use colours that clash e.g. blue text on a red background or colours which will strain the eye etc.
No counters
Don't have a counter on the page to say how many times its been viewed, it looks unprofessional. Under no circumstances should you have a YouTube page as the homepage for your portfolio.
Good Luck
